EPR REQUIREMENTS (1 RCNY-§4000-01)

Electrical Installations: Electrical review is required where service equipment totals 1000kVA or greater, or where any new alteration to an electric service installation causes the altered installation to ttal 1000kVA or greater, as further detailed below:

  • Any new installation of equipment totaling 1000kVA or higher.

  • Any change in an installation with a rating of 1000kVA or higher, up to and including the second level overcurrent protection, unless it was fully described and approved as "future” on the original approved plan

  • Any addition to an existing installation which would bring the total to 1000kVA or higher

  • A new installation or revised installation above 600V, irrespective of kVA rating.

  • The addition of any equipment in a room, which would affect clearances around the equipment of a 1000kVA installation.

EPR FILING PROCESS
  1. Request for quote - Reach out to us via the link above for a quote for your project. Relevant details we will require are scope (base one-line and/or riser diagram), equipment being installed, and specific services needed. The price is based on the overall scope size and complexity, one-line details, floor plan details, etc.

  2. Data compilation - Our data collection sheet will be provided once a written purchase order (PO) is provided to our office. Some of the information required is:

    • Site address, including NYC block and lot number (should match the permit address and is needed to get an official DOB job number).

    • Property owner information (name, address, email, contact number, etc.)

    • Con Edison incoming fault contribution data including 3-phase available fault current, impedance data (X over R ratio), service entrance location in the service room, and utility provided feeder data.

    • Asbestos abatement documents (ACP5, ACP7, ACP21, V5 variance or a PW1/job number.

    • All equipment shop drawings/as-builts including voltage rating, amperage, short circuit/withstand rating, OCPD data (fuse make/model/type and breaker make/model/trip unit).

    • Feeder data (number of sets, sizes, type, conduit type, length, etc.).

    • Kirk-key sequence of operation (when applicable).

  3. EPR Submission - While the data is being collected, the drawings will be created, payments will be made to the DOB, and the engineer/owner signed form will be filled out. Once the drawings are ready, they will be submitted along with TCC curves and short circuit results (when applicable).

  4. Approval - After review by the EPR team, the package will come one of three ways:

    1. Approved - Submission is approved (with approval number) and final inspection can be requested.

    2. Approved (with condition) - Submission is approved, but requires some additional information to be provided for final approval before inspection. Usually this is the selective coordination report (TCC curves).

    3. Disapproved - Submission is rejected with details provided on how to comply.
